Create instance dialog

Welcome to your first DataCards project! A blank work area has been created for you. We call this a Deck. It’s where you’ll build the user interface for your project.

Empty deck

Your first card

A design pattern we recommend for decks is to use a big, central image card to represent your project’s topic. This may be a picture, drawing, process diagram, data visualisation or something else – we call it the Thing. Let’s add a Thing to your deck.

  • Click on one of the deck’s grid cells to open the Card Store. Here you can see various kinds of content that you can add to your deck. We call these Cards.

  • Click on the image card. It will be added to the deck in the position that you clicked to open the card store.

  • Click the card’s upload icon to select an image using the file explorer, or drag an image file onto the card.

  • Use drag and drop to position and size the image card on the deck (N.b. this is a BETA feature).

  • Now you have a deck with a thing, ready to add data products and functionality.
